Dallam County, Texas is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 6222 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 6267, making it Texas's 64th smallest county. The county extends throughout a territory of 1505.26 sq mi (3898.61 sq km ), of which, 1504.69 square miles (3897.13 sq km) of it is land and 0.56 square miles (1.45 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 21st largest by total area in Texas.

The population density was 4.1 people per square mile (1.58/kmē), making it the 46th least densely populated county in Texas. In the county the population was spread out, with 31.8% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 28.8% from 25 to 44, 20.6% from 45 to 64, and 10.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.3 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 6267, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 94.54% White, 2.41% Black or African American, 1.29% American Indian, 0.7% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.05% from two or more races.
