Dade City City is a city located in the Pasco County, Florida, United States. As of 2000 the population was 6188. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 7223, It is the 370th largest by population in the U.S. state of Florida. It covers total area of 3.38 square miles (8.75 square kilometre), of which, 3.28 square miles (8.5 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 460th largest by area in the U.S. state of Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6188 people in the city, organized into 2399 households, and 1462 families living in the city. The population density was 1885.3 people per square mile (727.92/kmē), giving it the 400th most densely populated city among the Florida. There were 2818 housing units at an average density of 859.1 per square mile (331.7/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 and the average family size was 3.15. In the city Age distribution was 26.3% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 25.4% from 25 to 44, 19.2% from 45 to 64, and 19.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 114.6 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 125.7 females. The median age of the city's population was 36.6 years, The median age of males was 32.8 years, for females the median age was 40.4 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 64.9% White, 24.16% Black or African American, 0.39% American Indian, 0.6% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, 1.81% from two or more races and 8.1% Other races.
