Custer County is a county located in the United States of Oklahoma. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 26142 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 26412, It is the 35th largest in terms of population. The county has a total area of 1002 square miles (2595.17 sq km), of which, 986.51 square miles (2555.05 sq km) of it is land and 15.49 square miles (40.12 sq km) of it is water, it is the 22nd largest in terms of geographical size.

The population's age distribution was 24.3% under the age of 18, 17.4% from 18 to 24, 24.5% from 25 to 44, 20.1% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 26412, The racial makeup of the county was 86.49% White, 3.08% Black or African American, 6.17% American Indian, 1.4% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 2.81% from two or more races.
