Cumberland County is a county in the United States of Pennsylvania. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Cumberland County is home to 213674 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 229361, It is the 16th most populous county in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The county has a total area of 551.14 sq mi (1427.45 kmē), of which, 550.17 square miles (1424.93 kmē) of it is land and 0.98 square miles (2.54 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 43rd largest by total area among Pennsylvania's county.

The population density was 388.4 people per square mile (149.96/kmē), making it the 15th most densely populated county in Pennsylvania. There were 86951 housing units at an average density of 158 per square mile (61/kmē). The average household size was 2.41 and the average family size was 2.92. In the county Age distribution was 22% under the age of 18, 10.6% from 18 to 24, 28.5% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 105 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 107.9 females. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 229361, The racial makeup of the county was 213605 White, 7443 Black or African American, 328 American Indian, 5612 Asian, 80 Native Hawaiian, and 2293 from two or more races.
