Cumberland City, Allegany County, Maryland is a city located in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Cumberland City is home to 21518 inhabitants. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 20495, making it Maryland's 55th largest. The city extends throughout a territory of 9.08 sq mi (23.52 kmē ), of which, 9.07 square miles (23.49 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, it is the 69th largest by area in the U.S. state of Maryland.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 21518 residents, 9538 households, and 5439 families in the city. The population density was 2372.7 people per square mile (916.1/kmē), giving it the 137th most densely populated city among the Maryland. The racial makeup of the city was 19913 White, 1088 Black or African American, 57 American Indian, 132 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, 267 from two or more races and 57 Ohter races.
