Crosby County, Texas is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 7072 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 6192, It is the 62nd least populous county in the U.S. state of Texas. It has total area of 901.69 sq mi (2335.37 square kilometre), of which, 899.51 square miles (2329.72 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.17 square miles (5.62 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 159th largest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 7072 people, 2512 households, and 1866 families living in the county. The population density was 7.9 people per square mile (3.05/kmē), it is 72nd least densely populated county in Texas. There were 3202 housing units at an average density of 3.6 per square mile (1.39/kmē). The average household size was 2.78 and the average family size was 3.3. Age range in the county was well distributed with 30.7% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 24% from 25 to 44, 21.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.2 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 6192, The racial makeup of the county was 5770 White, 296 Black or African American, 65 American Indian, 8 Asian, 10 Native Hawaiian, and 43 from two or more races.
