Crook County, Wyoming is a county located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 5887. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 6457, It is the third least populous county in the U.S. state of Wyoming. It covers total area of 2870.52 mi˛ (7434.61 sq km), of which, 2858.59 square miles (7403.71 sq km) of it is land and 11.93 square miles (30.9 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 14th largest by total area among Wyoming's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5887 residents, 2308 households, and 1646 families in the county. The population density was 2.1 people per square mile (0.81/km˛), it is the fifth least populated county in terms of population density. There were 2935 housing units at an average density of 1 per square mile (0.39/km˛). The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.01. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 26.9% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 27.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.8 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 6457, The racial makeup of the county was 98.14% White, 0.08% Black or African American, 1.05% American Indian, 0.08% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.65% from two or more races.
