Crittenden County is one of the 75 county of Arkansas, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 50866 as per the Census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 52554, making it Arkansas's 14th largest county. The county extends throughout a territory of 636.69 square miles (1649.02 kmē ), of which, 610.17 square miles (1580.33 kmē) of it is land and 26.52 square miles (68.69 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 46th largest by total area in Arkansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 50866 people, 18471 households, and 13373 families residing in the county. The population density was 83.4 people per square mile (32.2/kmē), it is 11th most densely populated county in Arkansas. There were 20507 housing units at an average density of 33.6 per square mile (12.97/kmē). The average household size was 2.72 people, and the average family size was 3.23 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 31.1% under the age of 18, 9.4% from 18 to 24, 29.1% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 91 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 52554, The racial makeup of the county was 49.11% White, 48.87% Black or African American, 0.35% American Indian, 0.67% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.98% from two or more races.
