Crawford County is a county located in Ohio, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 46966 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 43696, It is the 54th largest in terms of population. The county extends throughout a territory of 402.83 square miles (1043.32 sq km ), of which, 402.11 square miles (1041.46 sq km) of it is land and 0.72 square miles (1.86 sq km) of it is water, making it Ohio's third smallest county by total area.

The population density was 116.8 people per square mile (45.1/kmē), it is Ohio's 45th most densely populated county. There were 20178 housing units at an average density of 50.2 per square mile (19.38/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.45 persons, and the average family size was 2.94 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.9% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.8 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 43696, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 42720 White, 366 Black or African American, 110 American Indian, 159 Asian, 9 Native Hawaiian, and 332 from two or more races.
