Crawford County is a county in the United States of Michigan. Crawford County had an official population of 14273 in 2000. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 14463, It is the 14th smallest in terms of population. It is spread over 563.37 sq mi (1459.12 sq km), of which, 558.12 square miles (1445.52 sq km ) of it is land and 5.25 square miles (13.6 sq km) of it is water, it is the tenth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan.

As of the census of 2000, there were 14273 residents, 5625 households, and 4037 families in the county. The population density was 25.6 people per square mile (9.88/kmē), it is Michigan's 18th least densely populated county. There were 10042 housing units at an average density of 18 per square mile (6.95/kmē). The average household size was 2.45 people, and the average family size was 2.87 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24.5% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 26.6% from 25 to 44, 26% from 45 to 64, and 16.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 104 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.4 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 14463, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 13682 White, 423 Black or African American, 97 American Indian, 82 Asian, 3 Native Hawaiian, and 176 from two or more races.
