Crawford County is a county located in the United States of Iowa. The population of the county was 16942 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 16415, It is Iowa's 45th most populous county. The county encompasses an area of 714.99 mi˛ (1851.82 sq km ), of which, 714.36 square miles (1850.18 sq km) of it is land and 0.63 square miles (1.63 sq km) of it is water, it is the 13th largest in terms of geographical size.

In the county Population was distributed with 26.5% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 25.7% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.8 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 16415, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 15942 White, 184 Black or African American, 101 American Indian, 82 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 104 from two or more races.
