Cozad City is a one of the Dawson County, Nebraska, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 4163. In July 2008, its estimated population was 4218, giving it the 39th largest population among Nebraska. Its area is just over 2.07 sq mi (5.36 square kilometre), it is the 42nd largest by area in the U.S. state of Nebraska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4163 people, 1722 households, and 1128 families residing in the city. The population density was 2007.2 people per square mile (774.98/kmē), giving it the 56th most densely populated city among the Nebraska. There were 1851 housing units at an average density of 894.2 per square mile (345.25/kmē). The average household size was 2.37 and the average family size was 2.95.
