Cowley County is one of the 105 county of Kansas, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The population of the county was 36291 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 34065, making it the 15th most populous county in Kansas. The county extends throughout a territory of 1132.6 square miles (2933.42 sq km ), of which, 1126.24 square miles (2916.95 sq km) of it is land and 6.37 square miles (16.5 sq km) of it is water, making it the seventh largest by size in Kansas.
