Courtland Town is a town in the Lawrence County, Alabama, United States. The population of the town was 769 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 764, It is the 310th most populous in the U.S. state of Alabama. It has total area of 2.33 sq mi (6.03 square kilometre), of which, 2.32 square miles (6.01 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 131st smallest by total area among Alabama.

As of the census of 2000, there were 769 residents, 316 households, and 210 families in the town. The population density was 331.2 people per square mile (127.88/kmē), it is Alabama's 223rd most densely populated town. There were 363 housing units at an average density of 156.5 per square mile (60.42/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 persons, and the average family size was 3.06 persons. In the town the population was distributed as follows: 27.8% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 85.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 77.3 males. The median age was 35.5 years, the median age of male residents at 33.6 and the median age of female residents at 36.9. The racial makeup of the town was 54.23% White, 40.44% Black or African American, 2.08% American Indian, 0.26% Asian, 0.13% Native Hawaiian, 2.86% from two or more races and 0% Other races.
