Council Bluffs City, Iowa is a city of the Pottawattamie County, Iowa, United States. Council Bluffs City had an official population of 58268 in 2000. Its population was estimated at 59536 in July 2008, It is the seventh largest by population in the U.S. state of Iowa. Its area is just over 39.65 sq mi (102.69 square kilometre), of which, 37.38 square miles (96.81 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.26 square miles (5.85 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the sixth largest by total area among Iowa. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Iowa.
