Cottonwood County is a county located in the United States of Minnesota. In 2000, county's population was 12167 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 11283, making it Minnesota's 25th smallest county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 648.91 miē (1680.67 kmē), of which, 639.99 square miles (1657.57 kmē) of it is land and 8.91 square miles (23.08 kmē) of it is water, it is the 49th largest by area in the U.S. state of Minnesota.

The population density was 19 people per square mile (7.34/kmē), it is Minnesota's 57th most densely populated county.
