Cotton County is a county located in the United States of Oklahoma. The county has a population of 6614 as per the 2000 census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 6191, It is the 12th smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. The county comprises an area of 641.94 square miles (1662.62 sq km), of which, 636.64 square miles (1648.89 sq km) of it is land and 5.31 square miles (13.75 sq km) of it is water, it is the 18th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6614 people in the county, organized into 2614 households, and 1840 families living in the county. The population density was 10.4 people per square mile (4.02/kmē), it is Oklahoma's 17th least densely populated county. There were 3085 housing units at an average density of 4.8 per square mile (1.85/kmē). The average household size was 2.46 people, and the average family size was 3 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.4% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.5 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.7 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 6191, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 83.8% White, 3.47% Black or African American, 9.3% American Indian, 0.36% Asian, 0.06% Native Hawaiian, and 3% from two or more races.
