Cottle County, Texas is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 1904. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 1617, It is the 15th smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Texas. Its area is just over 901.59 sq mi (2335.11 sq km), of which, 901.18 square miles (2334.05 sq km) of it is land and 0.42 square miles (1.09 sq km) of it is water, making it Texas's 162nd largest county by total area.

The population density was 2.1 people per square mile (0.81/kmē), making it the 24th least densely populated county in Texas. There were 1088 housing units at an average density of 1.2 per square mile (0.46/kmē). The average household size was 2.28 and the average family size was 2.84. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 23.9% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 21.5% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 25.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 87.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 81.9 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 1617, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 87.32% White, 11.5% Black or African American, 0% American Indian, 0% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 1.18% from two or more races.
