Cotati City is a one of the Sonoma County, California, located in Western Region (Pacific) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 6471 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 7169, making it the 536th most populous in California. The city extends throughout a territory of 1.89 miē (4.9 kmē ), of which, 1.88 square miles (4.87 kmē) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 263rd smallest by total area among California.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6471 people, 2532 households, and 1609 families residing in the city. The population density was 3444.3 people per square mile (1329.85/kmē), it is the 327th most populated city in terms of population density.
