Corpus Christi City, Nueces, Kleberg, San Patricio and Aransas counties, Texas is a city located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 277454. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 286462, It is the eighth most populous in the U.S. state of Texas. The city extends throughout a territory of 460.24 mi˛ (1192.02 square kilometre ), of which, 154.64 square miles (400.52 square kilometre) of it is land and 305.6 square miles (791.5 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the second largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in Texas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 277454 residents, 98791 households, and 70465 families in the city. The population density was 1794.2 people per square mile (692.74/km˛), making it the 212th most densely populated city in Texas. There were 107831 housing units at an average density of 697.3 per square mile (269.23/km˛). The average household size was 2.75 persons, and the average family size was 3.27 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 28.1% under the age of 18, 10.6% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 21% from 45 to 64, and 11.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 104.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 108.4 females. The median age is 33.2 years, the median age of male residents at 31.9 and the median age of female residents at 34.4. The racial makeup of the city was 198714 White, 12969 Black or African American, 1766 American Indian, 3551 Asian, 212 Native Hawaiian, 8690 from two or more races and 51552 Ohter races.
