Cordova City is a one of the Walker County, Alabama, located in Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 2423 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 2284, It is the 170th largest in terms of population. It has total area of 5.95 sq mi (15.41 sq km), of which, 5.9 square miles (15.28 sq km) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 218th largest by total area among Alabama.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2423 people, 1009 households, and 666 families living in the city. The population density was 411 people per square mile (158.69/kmē), making its Alabama's 170th most densely populated city. There were 1180 housing units at an average density of 200 per square mile (77.22/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.29 persons, and the average family size was 2.84 persons. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 23.2% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 23.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 79.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 74.2 males. The median age was 41.3 years, the median age of male residents at 37.3 and the median age of female residents at 44.4. The racial makeup of the city was 2074 White, 321 Black or African American, 5 American Indian, 1 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, 14 from two or more races and 7 Ohter races.
