Copiah County is a county located in the United States of Mississippi. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 28757 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 29331, It is 30th most populous county in Mississippi. Its area is just over 779.38 mi˛ (2018.58 sq km), of which, 776.6 square miles (2011.38 sq km) of it is land and 2.78 square miles (7.2 sq km) of it is water, giving it the ninth largest by total area among Mississippi's county.

Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 29331, The racial makeup of the county was 13990 White, 15091 Black or African American, 22 American Indian, 62 Asian, 8 Native Hawaiian, and 158 from two or more races.
