Cookeville City is one of the city of Putnam County, Tennessee, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 23923. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 29234, giving it the 21st largest population among Tennessee. The city spans an area of 22.03 square miles (57.06 square kilometre), of which, 21.86 square miles (56.62 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.17 square miles (0.44 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 30th largest by total area in Tennessee.
