Cooke County is a county located in the United States of Texas. In 2000, the population was 36363. The July 2008 population estimate is 38407, It is 75th most populous county in Texas. It covers total area of 898.81 mi˛ (2327.91 sq km), of which, 873.64 square miles (2262.72 sq km) of it is land and 25.17 square miles (65.19 sq km) of it is water, it is the 170th largest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.

In the county the population was spread out, with 27.3% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 26.1% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 38407, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 93.35% White, 3.47% Black or African American, 1.23% American Indian, 0.66% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 1.26% from two or more races.
