Cook County is a county located in Georgia, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 15771 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 16608, making it the 99th most populous county in Georgia. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 233.22 sq mi (604.04 sq km), of which, 229.02 square miles (593.16 sq km) of it is land and 4.2 square miles (10.88 sq km) of it is water, it is the 30th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 15771 people in the county, organized into 5882 households, and 4280 families living in the county. The population density was 68.9 people per square mile (26.6/kmē), making it the 70th most densely populated county in Georgia. There were 6558 housing units at an average density of 28.6 per square mile (11.04/kmē). The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.12. In the county Age distribution was 28.2% under the age of 18, 9.1% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 13% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.5 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 16608, The racial makeup of the county was 11699 White, 4614 Black or African American, 35 American Indian, 119 Asian, 6 Native Hawaiian, and 135 from two or more races.
