Connecticut is a United States's state located in the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 3405565 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 3501252, giving it the 29th largest population among United States. The state has a total area of 5543.33 mi˛ (14357.16 sq km), of which, 4844.8 square miles (12547.97 sq km) of it is land and 698.53 square miles (1809.18 sq km) of it is water, giving it the third smallest by total area among United States.

The population density was 702.9 people per square mile (271.39/km˛), making it the fourth most densely populated state in United States. There were 1385975 housing units at an average density of 286.1 per square mile (110.46/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.53 persons, and the average family size was 3.08 persons. In the state Age distribution was 24.7% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.5 males. The median age of the state's population was 37.4 years, The median age of males was 36.1 years, for females the median age was 38.6 years. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the state is 3405565, The racial or ethnic makeup of the state was 81.64% White, 9.1% Black or African American, 0.28% American Indian, 2.42% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, 2.2% from two or more races and 4.32% Other races.
