Concho County is a one of the county from Texas's 254 counties, located in Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 3966 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 3610, It is the 40th least populous county in the U.S. state of Texas. The county has a total area of 993.69 miē (2573.65 kmē), of which, 991.45 square miles (2567.84 kmē) of it is land and 2.23 square miles (5.78 kmē) of it is water, making it Texas's 82nd largest county by total area.

The population density was 4 people per square mile (1.54/kmē), making it the 43rd least densely populated county in Texas. There were 1488 housing units at an average density of 1.5 per square mile (0.58/kmē). The average household size was 2.45 people, and the average family size was 2.97 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 16.1% under the age of 18, 10.4% from 18 to 24, 38.2% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 181.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 209.9 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 3610, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.4% White, 1.16% Black or African American, 0.64% American Indian, 0.11% Asian, 0.11% Native Hawaiian, and 0.58% from two or more races.
