Comanche County, Kansas is a county of the United States of Kansas. In 2000, the population was 1967. In July 2008, its estimated population was 1950, It is fifth least populous county in Kansas. The county comprises an area of 789.7 sq mi (2045.31 kmē), of which, 788.31 square miles (2041.71 kmē) of it is land and 1.39 square miles (3.6 kmē) of it is water, it is the 48th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1967 people, 872 households, and 541 families living in the county. The population density was 2.5 people per square mile (0.97/kmē), it is Kansas's fifth least densely populated county. There were 1088 housing units at an average density of 1.4 per square mile (0.54/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.18 persons, and the average family size was 2.81 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 22.1% under the age of 18, 4.5% from 18 to 24, 21% from 25 to 44, 26.5% from 45 to 64, and 25.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.5 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 1950, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.51% White, 0.05% Black or African American, 0.31% American Indian, 0.26% Asian, 0.26% Native Hawaiian, and 0.62% from two or more races.
