Colusa County is a county in the United States of California. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 18804 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 21204, giving it the ninth smallest population among California's county. The county has a total area of 1156.22 square miles (2994.6 square kilometre), of which, 1150.68 square miles (2980.25 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.54 square miles (14.35 square kilometre) of it is water, making it California's 19th smallest county by total area.

The population density was 16.3 people per square mile (6.29/kmē), it is California's 11th least densely populated county. There were 6774 housing units at an average density of 5.9 per square mile (2.28/kmē). The average household size was 3.01 persons, and the average family size was 3.51 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 31.6% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 103.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.8 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 21204, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 19517 White, 294 Black or African American, 563 American Indian, 390 Asian, 107 Native Hawaiian, and 333 from two or more races.
