Columbus City is a city located in the Bartholomew County, Indiana, United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 39059 as per the Census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 40001, It is the 16th most populous in the U.S. state of Indiana. The city extends throughout a territory of 26.37 mi˛ (68.3 sq km ), of which, 25.95 square miles (67.21 sq km) of it is land and 0.42 square miles (1.09 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 13th largest by total area among Indiana.

In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 13.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.6 males. The median age was 36.4 years, The median age of males was 34.5 years, for females the median age was 38.3 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 35668 White, 1057 Black or African American, 50 American Indian, 1260 Asian, 19 Native Hawaiian, 463 from two or more races and 542 Ohter races.
