Columbia Heights City is a city located in Anoka County, Minnesota, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. The city has a population of 18520 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 18210, It is the 48th largest by population in the U.S. state of Minnesota. The city comprises an area of 3.55 mi˛ (9.19 sq km), of which, 3.45 square miles (8.94 sq km) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 sq km) of it is water, it is the 204th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 18520 people in the city, organized into 8033 households, and 4733 families living in the city. The population density was 5368.7 people per square mile (2072.87/km˛), it is the sixth most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Minnesota. There were 8151 housing units at an average density of 2362.6 per square mile (912.2/km˛). The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.93. In the city the population was spread out, with 20.8% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 30% from 25 to 44, 21.9% from 45 to 64, and 18.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 108.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 111 females. The median age was 39 years, The median age of males was 36.9 years, for females the median age was 41.2 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 16184 White, 671 Black or African American, 304 American Indian, 640 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, 479 from two or more races and 240 Ohter races.
