Columbia County is a county located in the United States of Washington. The population of the county was 4064 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 3990, giving it the second smallest population among Washington's county. The county has a total area of 873.53 sq mi (2262.43 sq km), of which, 868.81 square miles (2250.21 sq km) of it is land and 4.71 square miles (12.2 sq km) of it is water, it is the ninth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Washington.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 4064 residents, 1687 households, and 1139 families in the county. The population density was 4.7 people per square mile (1.81/kmē), making it the fourth least densely populated county in Washington. There were 2018 housing units at an average density of 2.3 per square mile (0.89/kmē). The average household size was 2.36 people, and the average family size was 2.89 people. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 23.9% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 22.8% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 18.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.8 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 3990, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.36% White, 0.33% Black or African American, 1.25% American Indian, 0.83% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 2.18% from two or more races.
