Columbia County, Pennsylvania is a county of the United States of Pennsylvania. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 64151 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 65004, It is the 39th most populous county in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. It covers total area of 489.79 miē (1268.55 kmē), of which, 485.55 square miles (1257.57 kmē) of it is land and 4.24 square miles (10.98 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 22nd smallest by total area in Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 64151 residents, 24915 households, and 16564 families in the county. The population density was 132.1 people per square mile (51/kmē), giving it the 34th most densely populated county among the Pennsylvania. There were 27733 housing units at an average density of 57.1 per square mile (22.05/kmē). The average household size was 2.42 people, and the average family size was 2.9 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 20.8% under the age of 18, 14.3% from 18 to 24, 25.9% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 110.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 113.9 females. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 65004, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.26% White, 1.23% Black or African American, 0.18% American Indian, 0.68% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.62% from two or more races.
