Columbia City is a city located in Marion County, Mississippi, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 6603. The July 2008 population estimate is 6567, giving it the 55th largest population among Mississippi. The city extends throughout a territory of 6.39 mi˛ (16.55 square kilometre ), it is the 94th largest by area in the U.S. state of Mississippi.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6603 residents, 2497 households, and 1621 families in the city. The population density was 1033.5 people per square mile (399.04/km˛), it is 70th most densely populated city in Mississippi. There were 2821 housing units at an average density of 441.5 per square mile (170.46/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 3.01 persons.
