Colstrip City is one of the city of Rosebud County, Montana, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 2346 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 2345 in July 2008, making it the 37th most populous in Montana. It covers total area of 4.49 square miles (11.63 sq km), it is the 73rd largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2346 people, 825 households, and 674 families living in the city. The population density was 522.6 people per square mile (201.78/kmē), it is the 123rd most densely populated city in the U.S. state of Montana.
