Colorado is a United States's state located in the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. Colorado had an official population of 4301261 in 2000. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 4939456, It is the 24th most populous in the U.S. state of America. It is spread over 104093.57 sq mi (269601.11 square kilometre), of which, 103717.53 square miles (268627.17 square kilometre ) of it is land and 376.04 square miles (973.94 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the eighth largest by total area among United States.

The population density was 41.5 people per square mile (16.02/kmē), it would be the 14th least densely populated state in the U.S. state of America. There were 1808037 housing units at an average density of 17.4 per square mile (6.72/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.53 persons, and the average family size was 3.09 persons. In the state the population was distributed as follows: 25.6% under the age of 18, 10% from 18 to 24, 32.6% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 9.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100 males. The median age is 34.3 years, The median age of males and females living in Colorado was 33.2 and 35.4 years respectively. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the state is 4301261, The racial makeup of the state was 3560005 White, 165063 Black or African American, 44241 American Indian, 95213 Asian, 4621 Native Hawaiian, 122187 from two or more races and 309931 Ohter races.
