Collin County is a county in the United States of Texas. As of 2000 the population was 491675. The July 2008 population estimate is 762010, giving it the sixth largest population among Texas's county. It covers total area of 885.85 miē (2294.34 kmē), of which, 847.56 square miles (2195.17 kmē) of it is land and 38.29 square miles (99.17 kmē) of it is water, it is the 74th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Texas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 491675 people, 181970 households, and 132268 families living in the county. The population density was 580.1 people per square mile (223.98/kmē), making it the eighth most densely populated county in Texas. There were 194892 housing units at an average density of 229.9 per square mile (88.76/kmē). The average household size was 2.68 persons, and the average family size was 3.18 persons. In the Collin County, 28.7% of the population was under the age of 18, 7.4% were 18 to 24, 37.9% were 25 to 44, 20.7% were 45 to 64, and 5.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.8 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 762010, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 607391 White, 60713 Black or African American, 4938 American Indian, 74532 Asian, 647 Native Hawaiian, and 13789 from two or more races.
