Collier County is a United States county located in the United States of Florida. As of 2000 the population was 251377. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 315258, It is the 17th largest in terms of population. The county has a total area of 2304.93 sq mi (5969.74 sq km), of which, 2025.34 square miles (5245.61 sq km) of it is land and 279.59 square miles (724.13 sq km) of it is water, making it Florida's fourth largest county by total area. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in Florida.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 251377 people, 102973 households, and 71264 families living in the county. The population density was 124.1 people per square mile (47.92/kmē), it is 32nd most densely populated county in Florida. There were 144536 housing units at an average density of 71.4 per square mile (27.57/kmē). The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.79. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 19.9% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 24.6% from 25 to 44, 24.5% from 45 to 64, and 24.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 99.2 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 315258, The racial makeup of the county was 92.02% White, 5.7% Black or African American, 0.42% American Indian, 1.08% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, and 0.69% from two or more races.
