Colfax County is one of the 93 county of Nebraska, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 10441 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 9989, making it Nebraska's 26th largest county. It has total area of 418.58 sq mi (1084.12 square kilometre), of which, 413.14 square miles (1070.03 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.44 square miles (14.09 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the eighth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Nebraska.

The population's age distribution was 28.9% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 18.7% from 45 to 64, and 16% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 106.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 105.7 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 9989, The racial makeup of the county was 96.82% White, 0.55% Black or African American, 0.89% American Indian, 0.83% Asian, 0.28% Native Hawaiian, and 0.63% from two or more races.
