Colbert County is a county located in the United States of Alabama. In 2000, the population was 54984. In July 2008, its estimated population was 54663, making it Alabama's 23rd largest county. It covers total area of 623.61 square miles (1615.14 kmē), of which, 594.53 square miles (1539.83 kmē) of it is land and 29.08 square miles (75.32 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 20th smallest by total area in Alabama. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in Alabama.

For every 100 females there were 91.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.1 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 54663, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 81.81% White, 16.46% Black or African American, 0.41% American Indian, 0.29% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.01% from two or more races.
