Coffee County is a county located in Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 48014. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 52134, It is 28th most populous county in Tennessee. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 434.46 square miles (1125.25 square kilometre), of which, 428.84 square miles (1110.69 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.62 square miles (14.56 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 53rd largest by total area among Tennessee's county.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 48014 residents, 18885 households, and 13589 families in the county. The population density was 112 people per square mile (43.24/kmē), making its Tennessee's 27th most densely populated county. There were 20746 housing units at an average density of 48.4 per square mile (18.69/kmē). The average household size was 2.5 and the average family size was 2.96. The population's age distribution was 25.1% under the age of 18, 8.3% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 23.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.3 males. Its population was estimated at 52134 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 48950 White, 1908 Black or African American, 166 American Indian, 528 Asian, 24 Native Hawaiian, and 558 from two or more races.
