Coffee County is a county located in Georgia, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 37413. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 40527, It is 49th most populous county in Georgia. Its area is just over 602.61 square miles (1560.75 square kilometre), of which, 598.9 square miles (1551.14 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.72 square miles (9.63 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 14th largest by total area among Georgia's county.

As of the census of 2000, there were 37413 people in the county, organized into 13354 households, and 9791 families residing in the county. The population density was 62.5 people per square mile (24.13/kmē), giving it the 73rd most densely populated county among the Georgia. There were 15610 housing units at an average density of 26.1 per square mile (10.08/kmē). The average household size was 2.69 people, and the average family size was 3.14 people. The population's age distribution was 28.3% under the age of 18, 11% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 20.5% from 45 to 64, and 9.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97 males. Its population was estimated at 40527 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 29014 White, 10697 Black or African American, 240 American Indian, 265 Asian, 29 Native Hawaiian, and 282 from two or more races.
