Coahoma County is a county located in Mississippi, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 30622 as per the Census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 27272, making it the 35th most populous county in Mississippi. The county spans an area of 583.14 square miles (1510.33 kmē), of which, 554.15 square miles (1435.24 kmē) of it is land and 28.99 square miles (75.08 kmē) of it is water, it is the 40th largest by area in the U.S. state of Mississippi. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in Mississippi.

The population density was 55.3 people per square mile (21.35/kmē), giving it the 27th most densely populated county among the Mississippi. The population's age distribution was 33% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 25.3% from 25 to 44, 19.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 84.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 77.5 males.
