Clinton City, South Carolina is a city of the Laurens County, South Carolina, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 8091 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 8892, making it the 55th most populous in South Carolina. The city comprises an area of 9.15 sq mi (23.7 sq km), of which, 9.09 square miles (23.54 sq km) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 46th largest by total area in South Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8091 people, 2683 households, and 1667 families living in the city. The population density was 889.7 people per square mile (343.52/kmē), giving it the 144th most densely populated city among the South Carolina. There were 3011 housing units at an average density of 331.2 per square mile (127.88/kmē). The average household size was 2.39 persons, and the average family size was 3.05 persons.
