It is the 17th least populous in the U.S. state of Maine. Its area is just over 9.2 mi˛ (23.83 sq km), of which, 8.85 square miles (22.92 sq km) of it is land and 0.35 square miles (0.91 sq km) of it is water, making it the 32nd largest by size in Maine.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1305 people, 510 households, and 363 families residing in the census designated place.
