Clayton City is a city located in St. Louis County, Missouri, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 12825 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 16088 in July 2008, It is the 53rd largest by population in the U.S. state of Missouri. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.48 square miles (6.42 sq km), making it Missouri's 221st largest by total area.
