Clay County, Texas is a county located in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 11006. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 10888, making it Texas's 161st largest county. The county encompasses an area of 1116.17 square miles (2890.87 sq km ), of which, 1097.82 square miles (2843.34 sq km) of it is land and 18.36 square miles (47.55 sq km) of it is water, giving it the 51st largest by total area among Texas's county.

It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 10888, The racial makeup of the county was 10476 White, 116 Black or African American, 138 American Indian, 12 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 145 from two or more races.
