Clay County is a county located in the United States of Georgia. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Clay County is home to 3357 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 3231, It is fifth least populous county in Georgia. It has total area of 216.99 sq mi (562 square kilometre), of which, 195.21 square miles (505.59 square kilometre) of it is land and 21.79 square miles (56.44 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 25th smallest by total area in Georgia.

The population density was 17.2 people per square mile (6.64/kmē), it is tenth least densely populated county in Georgia. There were 1925 housing units at an average density of 9.9 per square mile (3.82/kmē). The average household size was 2.45 people, and the average family size was 2.99 people. In the county Population was distributed with 25.7% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 21% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 19.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 83.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 78.5 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 3231, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 1187 White, 2001 Black or African American, 4 American Indian, 10 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 27 from two or more races.
