Clarksburg City is a city in the Harrison County, West Virginia, United States. In 2000, the population was 16743. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 16441, It is the ninth most populous in the U.S. state of West Virginia. It has total area of 9.53 mi˛ (24.68 sq km), making it the 20th largest by size in West Virginia.

The population density was 1758.3 people per square mile (678.88/km˛), giving it the 73rd most densely populated city among the West Virginia. There were 8662 housing units at an average density of 909.9 per square mile (351.31/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.2 persons, and the average family size was 2.87 persons.
