Clarke County, Iowa is a county of the United States of Iowa. It is home to over 9133 people (2000 census). In July 2008, its estimated population was 9032, It is the 17th least populous county in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is spread over 431.72 sq mi (1118.15 square kilometre), of which, 431.12 square miles (1116.6 square kilometre ) of it is land and 0.6 square miles (1.55 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 11th smallest in terms of geographical size.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.3% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 17.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 9032, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 8851 White, 24 Black or African American, 37 American Indian, 58 Asian, 4 Native Hawaiian, and 58 from two or more races.
